Talking about local flavors, tomatoes seem to take on the hype this month at the Hilton Colombo.  #EatDrinkHilton is all about local flavor and seasonal offerings and in keeping with the concept, the kitchen brigade has curated a few unique dishes and beverages for the discerning diner.

At Café Kai a combination of refreshing savoury and sweet items are available from dark chocolate & sun dried tomato pies to flourless dark chocolate & tomato cakes, bitter tomato eclairs to tomato chocolate pralines, tomato macaroons and white chocolate drops filled with tomato seeds.

You can also pick up a jar of homemade devilled tomato chutney with cinnamon and garlic or even a jar of black peppered tomato jam with coconut and vanilla. Whilst you are at it, don’t forget to try out the energy boosters.

Graze Kitchen is serving up some appetizers and soup; baked taco tomato with ground beef, cheddar, sour cream and cashew guacamole, sun dried tomato hummus with crispy garlic bread, fish cake and tomato aioli, Vietnamese raw tomato wrap and a cold tomato and pumpkin soup.

When you dine at Il Ponte, you will find, in addition to the new menu, a special Tomato menu with a selection of appetizers, soups, mains and beverage. Namely Caprese – a marinated bocconcini and baby tomato with aged peanut balsamic reduction, red pesto and pistachio olive oil, fried whole sardines with garlic tomato dip, tomato zucchini fries with sun dried tomato dip, smoked tomato soup, tomato & pumpkin soup, tomato prawns, pastas – tomato & pumpkin risotto, tomato gnocchi and the roasted tomato pappardelle. And sip on a Red Eye or Bloody Maria in between your meal!
