He was probably the most popular Radio Presenter (RP) and Video Jockey (VJ) in Sri Lanka for several years but now his focus is on one thing and one thing only – Plan B.
The man is Thoshan Ediriwira and his Plan B after bowing out of radio and television is…well its ‘Plan B’ an event and venue management company.
Thoshan was a hit on YES FM and EFM radio in Sri Lanka and then on ART TV when he presented the Wrap Top 10 music video charts.
“My last job was at ABC Radio (SUN FM) as a program consultant. I started Plan B in 2002 and my last stint on radio was in 2005,” Thoshan said during a chat with the Colombo Gazette.
As the Chief Executive Officer of Plan B Event and Venue Management, Thoshan is today a proud man as his venture has grown to be one of the top choices when it comes to event and venue management in Sri Lanka.
Plan B Event and Venue Management handled the Airtel launch in Sri Lanka and was also involved in the Indian IIFA film awards held in Sri Lanka, the 2011 cricket world cup and the first Hikka Fest.
Thoshan says his company is also affiliated with a company in Britain and organizes events in the Maldives and India as well.
“So that’s the event management side of Plan B. Then we have venue management where we takeover venues that are not doing too well, manage it for a period, turn things around and hand it back over to the owners,” he said.
Plan B Event and Venue Management also has its own venues, namely Mirror Lounge and Kamikaze, the first Japanese fusion cocktail bar in Sri Lanka.
Kamikaze, means a “divine wind” and also refers to the cocktail shot, says Thoshan.
So what’s on the menu? “We have a Japanese fusion menu, special Japanese theme cocktails, bamboo Iced Tea, Japanese lemon tea, cheri blossom margarita and more. And yes there is food”.
The Cocktail Bar also hosts quiz nights on Thursdays together with YES FM with unbelievable cash prizes on offer and they also host corporate events.
Sp again why should we choose Kamikaze over any other bar, pub or restaurant? Thoshan says because the rates are reasonable, the concept is different, a different kind of menu is on offer, good music and the ambiance is something words cannot describe.
He says both Kamikaze and indeed Plan B Event and Venue Management have a lot of plans in store for the future and if you want to know what those plan are…well just keep your eyes and ears open or better yet follow Kamikaze @ https://www.facebook.com/Kamikaze.colombo (Colombo Gazette)
